Vacationing in the Outer Banks - by Tammy

When my husband I decided to take the family to the Outer Banks for a family vacation we never thought all those talks while walking on the beach picking up shells and watching our dog run all over the place would actually come true.

We searched for 8 years to find our dream home! We knew it was the right one because 3 years earlier we stayed at another house across the street from it and my husband kept admiring the house.

Who would have thought 3 years later we would be the proud owners of that house! We promptly changed the name to Dawg Days! Because it is after all totally about the dogs! Dogs make the best vacations I think!

We are in Corolla and there is just so much for not only the 2-leggers to do but the 4-leggers also! We have a lake right down the street that is awesome for the dogs to go swimming in. We can.t keep our 3 out of the water! That.s probably where the brainstorm for the fenced in backyard came into play. Amazingly, we all think the lake water does wonders for their coats!

In addition to the lake you can take your family (2 and 4-leggers alike) to the beach for a full day of fun in the sun and surf. There.s nothing like watching the kids and dog(s) play on the beach and in the water and the expression on the kids. faces when they see the dog roll in something unidentifiable and then be so excited out the smell he wanted to share it with the kids by running up to give the a smooch on the face.

And for the fisherman in the family you can take your dog along to make sure there are no squid thieves like we seemed to encounter. Only later to find out it was the dog!

Corolla is filled with shops and restaurants where the variety is endless. The dogs even have a special place to go in Duck for Yappie Hour while on vacation!

For the history buffs you have The Whalehead Club, Currituck Lighthouse (wonderful views at the top) and tours out into the 4-wheel section to see the wild horses.

You can go play golf at The Currituck Golf Club or if you aren.t into the full size golf you can play miniature golf at the Timbuck II Shops as well as go-carts.

Corolla is a wonderful town for low key relaxing vacations!!! I think everyone should experience the Outer Banks...we did and we love it! Including our beloved 4-leggers: Bandit, Boomer & Riley!

If you would like to check out more about our home our listing number for this website is #604 - Dawg Days!
